About me -

  • Passion for alternative health – when I was in my 20’s, I was introduced to both chiropractic and homeopathy, and found they helped me.  Over the years, I explored other methods, and eventually found Bowenwork, which reduced my RA and fibromyalgia pain by 70% in the first session!  I combined that with posture exercises and changes in my diet, and was able to stop all the medications I was on.  Even having been in six car accidents, I have an active life, supported with a variety of alternative health methods.

  • Love of horses.  Pony rides were the highlights of my childhood. When early in my legal career, a friend suggested riding lessons to relieve my stress, I jumped at the opportunity, and was hooked!  I rode using classical dressage methods, schooling and trail riding.  My horse Justin was 8 when I bought him, and 28 when I had to let him go.  Through my riding years, I worked in the stables where I boarded, handling many horses, and ultimately brought Justin home, where he lived with a companion pony until Justin’s time came to go.  I have boarded horses at my home, but have chosen now to get my “horse fix” in the bodywork I do.  Here’s Justin in his retirement.

  • Life with dogs.  There has almost always been a dog in my life!  From the dachshund my family had, to Max the terrier mix I had in my first year of college, then a sheep dog, then 8 more.  Cooper lives with me now, and is a rescue I adopted in 2023, when he was 5.

About Karin's Training

Even before I went to law school, I was exploring alternative health approaches.  After law school, I continued exploration of restorative therapies, including homeopathy, and was introduced to Bowenwork and postural exercises based on the work of Pete Egoscue while recovering from multiple car accidents.  Since then, I've studied Bowenwork with the American Bowen Academy, Graham Pennington, and Ron Phelan, and taken classes in the Emmett Technique. I am a certified Emmett Technique practitioner for horses and a Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist,  and have trained in Reiki, as well as being certified in McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release work, for both people and horses.
